POLO – William J. Wagner, 83 passed away Dec. 22, 2019 in Polo. Bill was born September 7th, 1936 in Polo (Buffalo Grove), son of George and Urith (Bunnell) Wagner.

Bill married Nancy Yount and together they had 4 children. He was fortunate to have a second wife Rowena (Mickey) Hoffman. He served as a jeep driver in Germany during his 2 years of Army service. Bill was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand from just helping someone move to building his first family home across from the White Pines Deer Park. No task was to big or to small from re-wiring the Polo home to moving walls, building tree houses or just painting. Bill worked many years for Kable Printing Company in Mt. Morris and the Sterling Steel Mill. He enjoyed 20 years of retirement riding motorcycles and driving his convertible. He was an avid roller skater. Bill especially enjoyed taking his family and friends out to restaurants like the Candlelight Inn of Sterling or Grubsteakers near Rochelle.

He is survived by his children: Michael (Carrie) Wagner, Greg (Jane) Wagner, Teresa Olsen, Steve (Penny) Wagner; Grandchildren: Eric (Nicole) Compton, Jason and Kelly Wagner, Jay Wagner, Stacey (Mitch) Hummel; Great Grandchildren: Zoey McCracken, Arya and William Compton, Addessa and Eva Hummel; Siblings: Donna Wagner, David and (Carla) Wagner.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Nancy (Yount) Schmidt; second wife Rowena (Hoffman) Wagner; siblings George Jr. (Jiggs) Wagner, Elaine Moore, Peggy Dunne, Laura Slater; Granddaughter Melanie Wagner.  

Memorial service was 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Polo Family Funeral Home with visitation just prior from 10 a.m. to start of service.  Burial took place at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo following the service.
