OREGON — The Stillman Valley High School varsity wrestling team will have one wrestler competing in the IHSA State Championship after advancing out of the IHSA 1A Oregon Sectional. Henry Hildreth (38-5) took second at 150 pounds and earned the chance to represent the Cardinals at state.

A regional champion, Henry Hildreth received a first-round bye before earning a 17-1 technical fall against Sandwich’s Joshua Kotalik in the sectional quarterfinals. After clinching his state championship bid with a second-period fall over Amboy’s Jose Lopez in the semifinals, Hildreth bowed out of the meet with a loss to Woodstock Marian’s Vance Williams in the sectional finals.

Stillman Valley had three wrestlers competing in the sectional tournament. Michael Pannarele (35-8) finished as an alternate at 106 pounds, while Ethan Waugh (33-11) reached the second round of the consolation wrestlebacks.
