ROCKFORD – Grace P. Henley, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019. She was born Sept. 22, 1926 in Byron, the daughter of Harry and Grace (Wilfang) Brechters.
She attended Meridian School District in Stillman Valley. Grace married Elmer E. Henley on Sept. 12, 1943 in Kahoka, Mo. Elmer preceded her on Dec. 16, 2006. Grace was a nanny for 20 years for a Dr.’s family and also worked a Hardees’s in Rockford for 10 years. Grace was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church near Oregon where she also participated in the Ladies Aid of the church and was an usher. She enjoyed her bowling leagues, crocheting, baking, and her Bible study groups. Most of all Grace enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Elmer, an infant brother Harry Brechters, Jr, her brother Henry Brechters, and sisters; Seeka Reimer, Hennietta Oltmanns, Jenet Brechters, and Harriett Lindman.
She is survived by her son Elwin Henley of Rockford and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church near Oregon, with the Rev. Josiah Youngquist pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was prior to the service at the church from 10-11 a.m. Burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is established for the Ebenezer Reformed Church.
