Lillian “Eileen” Carlson

BYRON – Lillian “Eileen” Carlson, age 89, passed away on Jan. 19, 2021 at Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris. She was born on Aug. 3, 1931 in Cotton, Minn., the daughter of Jacob and Esther (Peterson) High.

She married Ted Carlson in 1952. Eileen worked at the Ben Franklin Store in Byron and then went on to work for Cacciatore Byron Food Mart and later County Market before retiring. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron. Eileen was an avid reader who liked to crochet in her spare time. She volunteered for many years as an election judge and loved to go for walks. Eileen also enjoyed traveling to Minnesota to visit her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Jones of Mt. Morris and Peggy (Rich) Whitney of Rockford; sister in law, Mary High of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Sonja, Erik, Heather, Holly, Haylie, Anna, and Carlson; and several great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Steven, brothers and sisters in law, Warren (Pearl) High, Van (Delores) High, and Leslie High.
