OREGON – Richard A. Zilly, age 87, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at KSB Hospital in Dixon. He was born March 14, 1930 in Elmhurst, the son of William and Myrtle (Bergquist) Zilly.
He graduated from York High School in Elmhurst. He worked as a printer for most of his life. He married Theresa Heft on June 22, 1957 in Villa Park. They enjoyed 60 years together. His hobbies included woodworking and photography.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Orville Zilly and sister Gertrude Ellis.
He is survived by his wife Theresa Zilly of Oregon, 5 children: Elizabeth (Dr. Jeffrey) Edwards of Wheaton, Daniel E. (Sandra) Zilly of Winfield, Suzanne (Dennis) Duggan of Fulton, Karen Zilly of Long Beach, Calif., Diana Zilly of Joliet, 1 sister Marville Klein of Grays Lake, 6 grandchildren: Darlene, Zoe, Kai, Steven, Amanda, and Jessica.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street, Oregon, with Dr. Jeffrey Edwards and Dennis Duggan leading the service. Visitation was prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at the St. Paul Cemetery in Aurora. A memorial fund is established for the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
