OREGON — Eldon Leroy LeFevre, age 94, died Friday, March 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 28, 1929 in Dixon, IL the son to Leroy and Naomi (Alter) LeFevre. He graduated from Polo High School in 1949.  Eldon served in the U.S. Army from 1951-53 in occupied Germany during the Korean War.  He wooed Shirley Ann Miller with his baby blue convertible and they were married on June 19, 1959 in Polo IL. They were able to celebrate 63 years of marriage.  Eldon held various jobs before retiring after over 33 years at Ogle County Highway Department. He enjoyed 30 years of retirement, and to this day could still tell you every culvert he put in, ditch he dug out and how many times he had to back up before he got through a snow drift.  Always the farmer he was raised as, he enjoyed his yard and always had the best vegetable garden year after year. His John Deere was his lawn tractor that he loved to ride on, mow some grass and get those few leaves that fell from a tree. He enjoyed going to the restaurant a couple of times a week to have coffee and always found someone to talk to. In the winter, he passed time by doing paint by number pictures, of which he completed over 100 different ones. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Shirley, sisters Elaine Dittmar and Lois Langley, and a brother Leonard LeFevre. Eldon is survived by his children Michael LeFevre and Lisa (Jerry) Baker both of Mt. Morris, IL; granddaughters Shannon LeFevre (Jaryn Rudy) of Mt Morris IL and Abigail Baker of Oregon, IL; three great grandsons, Cameron, Chase and Kaden Rudy; brother Lyle (Karen) LeFevre of Dixon; sister-in-law Pat LeFevre of Polo, and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th Street in Oregon, IL with the Rev. Rodney Caldwell officiating.  Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home in Oregon.  Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.  A memorial fund is established in Eldon’s name and may be directed to his family.  Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence or memory of Eldon.
