ROCHELLE — On Sept. 8 a grand opening was held for Positive Esthetics by Ashley at the business’s new location at 951 S. 7th St. Suite D in Rochelle. The business offers services from eyebrow waxing to facials to Brazilian waxes.

The business is owned by Ashley Kessen of Rochelle. After being a CNA for 15 years and going through the COVID-19 pandemic, she knew she wanted to help people in a different way. She went to school at Debutantes School of Beauty in DeKalb and started working at Beauty Bar in Rochelle for 2.5 years after school.

“I grew my client base until I decided to go out on my own,” Kessen said. “They taught me a lot. And helped me grow. I’m an esthetician here to make people feel beautiful, maintain their waxing needs and their beauty inside and out. I enjoy my work because I love seeing someone smile and just feel confident again.”

Kessen said she came across the space through a friend and collaborator, AP Massage Therapy Owner Ashley Patrick, who also has a space at 951 S. 7th St.

“I loved how much space she has,” Kessen said. “I also love the events she throws and the ones we have collaborated on together. We’ll have many more to come. That’s what I’m most excited about, bringing more events to the community and growing.”

Kessen said she wants to provide her service locally to keep Rochelle-area residents from having to drive out of town for their esthetics needs.

“Having the support of my clients means so much to me,” Kessen said. “It’s not all about making a dollar, it's also building those relationships and friendships with everyone.”
