The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alejandrino Hernandez, 27 of Dekalb for driving without a valid license. Hernandez was arrested by deputies on Rte. 64 near Chamberlain Road after being stopped for speeding. Hernandez was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

May 21

At approximately 10:35 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 5000 block of N IL Rte 2.  After a brief investigation, Deputies arrested Tianna R. Cornell, 20 of Tampico, for Driving While License Suspended.  Cornell was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail where she was held in lieu of bond.  Cornell was also cited for Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle and issued a written warning for inoperable rear registration light.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office arrested Justin Williams, 32 of Rockford for driving while license suspended. Williams was arrested by deputies on Hwy 251 near Davis Junction after being stopped for speeding. Williams was held in lieu of bond at the Jail.

At 5:12 p.m. the OCSO along with the Lynn Scott Rock Fire Dept. responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on I-39 near Mowers Road. Investigation by deputies revealed that a north bound vehicle driven by Kevin Abbott, 36 of Peoria Illinois had stopped in traffic when it was rear ended by a vehicle driven by James Hopkins age 34 of Elkhorn Wisconsin. An adult female passenger in Abbott’s car was transported to the Rochelle Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Hopkins was arrested by deputies for driving while license revoked and held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail. Hopkins was also cited for uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed.

May 20

At approximately 1:10 p.m., Ogle County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 7000 block of S. IL Rte 2. After investigation, Deputies arrested Ricky Green, 56 of Milwaukee WI, for Driving on a Suspended License. Green was also issued citations for Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Signal and Expired Registration. Green was transported to the Ogle County Jail where he was released to Correctional Staff and held in lieu of bond.

May 18

At 5:56 p.m., Deputies along with Leaf River EMS responded to the intersection of 3rd St and Main St in Leaf River for a vehicle vs bicycle accident with minor injuries. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an 11 year old bicyclist was traveling southbound on N Main St approaching the intersection of 3rd St. Monica Spear, 33 of Leaf River, was traveling westbound in a black GMC pickup truck on 3rd street also approaching the intersection at Main St. It was determined that the juvenile bicyclist entered the intersection before Spear’s vehicle cleared through the intersection, causing a minor collision. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries on scene by Leaf River EMS.

At 2:51 p.m., Deputies along with Monroe Center EMS responded to a two vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of IL Rte. 72 and Kilbuck Road. Robert Kesler, 32 of Kirkland, was driving eastbound on Rte. 72 near Kilbuck Road in a Ford Cargo van. Rachel Sievert, 21 of Davis Junction, was driving behind Kesler in a Nissan Altima. Kesler was slowing down to allow a vehicle to turn north onto Kilbuck Road from Rte. 72. Seivert was unable to reduce to speed to avoid colliding with Kesler’s back bumper. Both vehicles received disabling damage. Kesler and Sievert were both seen by medical personnel and did not receive any injuries. Sievert was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 

May 16

At 4:44 p.m., Deputies responded to the 4000 block of Illinois Rte. 2 for a motorcycle crash. It was learned that Ronald Bandy, 48 of Freeport was traveling north on Illinois Rte. 2, failed to navigate a curve, lost control coming to rest on the west bank of the Rock River. Bandy was transported to Swedish American Hosp by Byron Fire for minor injuries. Bandy was subsequently charged with DUI and cited for driving on the shoulder and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Bandy was released at the hospital and will appear in court on 7-2-21 at 9 a.m. Deputies were assisted on scene by Oregon and Byron Fire. The accident remains under investigation. 

May 14

At 8:27 p.m., Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Skare and Flagg Road. A 2006 Nissan driven by Irma Ugalde, 25, of Rochelle was driving northbound on Skare Road approaching the intersection with Flagg Road. A 2005 Dodge driven by John Roe, 68, of Rochelle was driving westbound Flagg approaching the intersection of Skare Road.  Uglade failed to yield right of way to Roe’s vehicle and entered the intersection, striking Roe’s vehicle.  After an investigation, Deputies cited Irma Ugalde for no valid license and failure to yield to oncoming traffic. Ugalde was given an I-bond for her citations.  Ugalde and her two children, ages 1 and 3, were transported to the Rochelle Community Hospital by Rochelle Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. 

May 13

The Ogle County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Ebtihal Albaiaty, 37 of Sterling for driving while license suspended and a Whiteside County warrant. Albaiaty was arrested by deputies on I-39 near Monroe Center after being stopped for speeding. Albaiaty was held in lieu of bond at the Ogle County Jail.

At approximately 4:12 p.m., Ogle County deputies responded to a multi-vehicle accident in the 7100 block of South Illinois Route 2. After an investigation it was learned that Keshon Reed, 19 of Mt Morris, was driving a Ford van that was pulling an empty boat trailer.  The boat trailer had lost a tire, which caused the trailer to slide. The trailer then slid into the oncoming lane of traffic and collide with a Honda Civic, which was driven by Christine Aguayo, 67 of Dixon. A passenger in the Honda, Rita Cannon, 70 of Dixon, Aguayo, and Reed all refused any medical treatment.
