Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: April 5-8, 2024

OREGON — On April 5 at 9:18 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on West Illinois Route 72 just west of North Illinois Route 26. As a result, Nicole A Sherrer, 28, of Freeport was arrested for driving while license suspended. Sherrer was additionally issued citations for expired registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Sherrer was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On April 6 at 6:50 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North 3rd Street in Oregon. As a result, Luis A. Mejia Franco, 29, of Rockford was arrested for driving while license suspended. Mejia Franco was additionally issued a citation for no muffler. Mejia Franco was transported to the Ogle County Jail, and released on a notice to appear with a future court date. 

On April 6 at 11:05 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 11,000 block of West Henry Road for a single-vehicle rollover accident. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that a 2016 Ford Mustang operated by Tyler O. Vegliando, 21, of Oregon was eastbound in the 11,000 block of West Henry Road, when he lost control of the vehicle and it entered the north ditch and overturned. As a result, Vegliando was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and reckless driving. Vegliando was additionally issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane usage. Vegliando was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear with a future court date. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Polo Fire Department. 

On April 6 at 8:18 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at Illinois Route 38 and Interstate 39. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Cynthia Pulido, 38, of Rochelle, for driving while license suspended. Pulido was released with a notice to appear. Pulido was additionally issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration. Pulido was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On April 7 at 10:58 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on Illinois Route 26, at the intersection with Florence Road in Stephenson County. As a result, Genevieve M. Cearns, 19, of Freeport was arrested for no valid license. Cearns was additionally issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. These violations occurred on Illinois Route 26, at the intersection with West Coffman Road in Ogle County. Cearns was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On April 8 at approximately 12:37 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Illinois Route 38 and North High Pointe Drive in Rochelle. After investigation, deputies placed Michael Pankratz, 47, of Rochelle under arrest for driving while license revoked. Pankratz was issued a warning for no splash guards when required. Pankratz was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was released on a notice to appear and given a future court date.

On April 8 at approximately 8:20 a.m. deputies arrested Crescenciano Santos, 46, of Silvas when he turned himself into the Ogle County Jail. He was arrested an outstanding warrant for driving on a revoked license, and there was no bond set on the warrant. Santos appeared in court, was released, and will return to court on May 13 at 9 a.m.

On April 8 at approximately 8:45 a.m. deputies arrested Samantha Burkhart, 35, of West Chicago when she turned herself into the Ogle County Jail.  She was arrested an outstanding failure to appear warrant for driving on under the influence of alcohol, and was unable to post the $2,581bond. Burkhart appeared in court, was released, and will return to court on May 20 at 9 a.m.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
