Popular dances return in Oregon

OREGON – The Oregon Park District Mother/Son Date Night and Daddy/Daughter Dance were held March 18 and 19 at Nash Recreation Center.

After a year with no dances due to the pandemic it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and hugs between the parents and their children.

At The Fishin’ Hole was the theme for the Mother Son Date Night and the gym was full of young boys dressed to “catch the big one” and an evening of fun with Mom or Grandma.

On Saturday, the gym was full of young girls dressed like mermaids or in their pretty dresses and dancing shoes.  These little ladies were so happy to share the dance foor with Dad or Grandpa after getting all dressed up.

Many of these couples enjoyed dinner out prior to the dance which is great for the local restaurants and other businesses benefitted as well with hair and nails done at the salon for some and sweet little corsages from the local florists for those parents that went all out.

All the participants, young and old, enjoyed dancing, contests, games, gift items, refreshments, photo booths and more. The boys had the opportunity to play fishing related games and earned “Bobber Bucks” to spend at The Bait Shop Shop. Keeping with tradition, the girls made commemorative bracelets at the Daddy Daughter Dance with a mermaid or sea related charm.  Each night is special, and each dance provides a wonderful opportunity for quality time with children creating memories and fun for a lifetime!

Memories were also captured by Lifeworks Photography.  To see photos of the dances and/or to learn more about Oregon Park District special events visit the Oregon Park District Facebook page or www.oregonpark.org.
