BYRON – Harold Dean Logston, 80, of Byron died Tuesday June 27, 2017 in his home. He was born January 22, 1937 in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Herbert and Mary (Kauzlarich) Logston.
He married Mary Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa on Aug. 13, 1961. Dean was an Army veteran and retired as a service engineer for US Filter of Rockford. He was an antique car buff and was a member of the Early V-8 Club, the Rock Ford A’s Model A Club, the Studebaker Drivers’ Club, and the National AACA. He was also a member of the Eagle’s Club in Rockford.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; sons, Anthony “Tony” Logston of Winnetka, Calif., and Chris “Potsy” Logston of Byron; granddaughter, Kya Renee Logston; and sisters, Edna Lindgren of Chicago, Dixie (Larry) Short of Rogers, Ark., and Beverly Thomson of Burlington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Christian funeral mass was held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 220 E. 2ndSt., Byron with Rev. Howard Barch officiating. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Byron. Visitation was held Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
