Garden club, FFA group holding plant sale

POLO – The Polo Woman's Garden Club is combining efforts this year with the Polo Community High School FFA and agriculture classes to hold their annual plant sales together.

Held during the Polo All-Town Garage Sales weekend, the location will be at the Polo High School, 100 Union Avenue. On Saturday, April 28, the doors will open at 8 a.m.

The FFA and ag classes will be offering a vastly wide variety of annuals, vegetables, grasses, herbs, hanging baskets and many more items, all of which were tended to in their greenhouse under the direction of Stephanie Schultz, the groups' advisor. It is exciting for the members to have the hands-on experience of growing their plants and seeing their efforts be appreciated and enjoyed by gardeners who purchase the items.

The Garden Club will, as in years past, be providing for purchase locally grown perennials which are generally dug from their own gardens. An array of plants always seems to surprise everyone. Miscellaneous items will be available for purchase, as well as our garden-themed raffle baskets.

Any community members who wish to donate plants and have any of their perennials dug may contact Garden Club member, Jean Dawson at 815-946-3363. Arrangements will be made to assist in digging; or donations of plants dug by individuals may be dropped off by contacting member, Diane Kuhns at 432-413-9291.

The Garden Club donates all proceeds from the plant sale in various ways to beautify and support the Polo community.
