OREGON – Have you ever wanted to travel back to a simpler time?

You are invited to do just that as Ebenezer Reformed Church celebrates 150 years of serving our community in Jesus name. Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. Ebenezer will be hosting a party 1869 style. Our event will consist of a Vintage baseball game. The Oregon Ganymedes Vintage Baseball team takes on the DuPage County Plowboys.

During vintage baseball games, teams play by the early rules of 1858 through 1867 when players did not wear gloves and gentlemanly behavior and good sportsmanship was the norm. The all-volunteer club is an educational outreach program of the Chana School Museum that teaches the early roots of the game of baseball. The club plays other vintage clubs from Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ohio and Michigan. The team got its name from Oregon’s Ganymede Spring that was named by the famous Margaret Fuller when she visited Oregon in 1843.

There will also be draft horse wagon rides. The wagon is equipped to load and carry our guests comfortably. A cake walk, watermelon weighing contest, as well of many games for children will round out the festivities. A meal and beverages will be provided.
