Barbara J. Fay

MT. MORRIS — Barbara J. Fay, went home to Jesus on Wednesday December 13, 2023 after a very long illness. She was 90. Barb was born to Pete and Ann (O’Neil) Pisman on November 13, 1933 in Port Byron, IL.

She was a dedicated loving mother, grandmother and friend.  She loved crafting and woodworking,  gardening and camping with the love of her life Floyd, and any other activities that included family.

She was very active in her community and St. Mary’s Church.  In her youth Barb wanted to go to Alleman Catholic High School so she worked cleaning the school and at Whitey’s Ice Cream to help pay for her tuition. She was also an alternate stock car driver with her sister Ella May (Pisman) Winger. This was not a surprise to many as she had a lead foot that she passed on to many of her kids and grandkids.

Barb met her husband Floyd while out dancing with friends. After a short courtship, They married May 15, 1954 and went on to have seven children. They were married 54 years when Floyd passed in 2008. 

Survivors include children; Mike Fay, Larry (Marty) Fay, Terry (Teresa Adams) Fay, Mark (Deb) Fay, Kay (Tim) Teeter, Paula (Jeff) Blackburn, and Becky (Dan Diehl) Fay. Grandchildren; Joel (Andrea) Fay, Melissa Fay, Alex Fay, Wesley (Erin) Fay, Lori Beth Ward, Nicholas (Mandy) Fay, Josh Fay, Andrea (Joseph) Schinke, Christopher (Cindy) Teeter, Tanya Teeter, Ashli (Colin) Buck, Mackenzie (Anibal Peralta) Sweeney, Carson (Natalie Schmit) Sweeney and 17 great grandchildren. Barb joins her husband Floyd, parents Pete and Ann, her sisters; Rosemary Marion, Ella May and brother John in heaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:00am-11:00am at Finch Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Funeral service will be held on December 16, 2023 at 11:00am at Finch Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, IL with Rev. Joseph Naill officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Oregon. Memorials can be made to the family to be established at a later date.
