Community Garden plots available

MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Community Garden has several 4 x 12 foot plots open for the 2020 season.

If you would like to get back to or try gardening for the first time, but don’t have a suitable space, consider joining. Tools are available at the garden.

This will mark the 11th year the garden has provided fresh produce and outdoor activity to those who participate. Located directly south of the Church of the Brethren at the corner of Brayton and Reynolds, the pantry section of the garden also distributes approximately 5,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to Loaves and Fish Food Pantry guests.

The plots are free; however, gardeners are required to commit to helping with specific tasks related to the overall upkeep of the garden. Those who are not interested in gardening, but want to help eliminate food insecurity, might also consider joining the Harvesting Team that picks the vegetables for days the pantry is open.

For information on securing plots or being part of the Harvesting Team, contact Mary Francis, 815-734-6994 or francises@comcast.net.
