Donald H. Eubanks

BYRON – Donald H. Eubanks, age 81 died peacefully at Generations at Neighbors on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019. He was born near Milledgeville on April 20, 1938 the son of Henry and Marjorie (Robinson) Eubanks.

He graduated from Milledgeville High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force where he was a flight line electrician serving in Japan. Donald married Pat Peterson on June 19, 1976. After his career in the Air Force he worked in weather tracking for NASA Space Shots and then for an oil exploration company in various oceans. Don then went into business for himself at Eubank Electric “Wiring you can Bank on” and then bought and turned around rental houses in south western Rockford before retiring in 1998.

Don loved stock car racing and took photographs for Hawkeye Racing at various tracks. He then went on to photo graph Byron High School sports and events and then further branched out to Ogle County Events. He loved classical music especially the Rockford Symphony and he loved to play Bass with his wife on piano at Cornerstone Family Church where he was an active member. He served as music director with his wife for Kids Klub at church and were lovingly known as Uncle Don and Aunt Pat to all the kids.  He played bass for country western bands in the wide area around Rockford and organized and put on country gospel concerts in Byron.

He is survived by his wife Pat of Rockford and siblings Shirley (Bob) Heath of Polo, Ken (Carol) Eubanks of Polo, and Barb (Jay) Boyles of Dixon.

He is preceded in death by his parents.  

Funeral service was 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at the Cornerstone Family Church with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. Visitation was at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
