LEAF RIVER – Donna J. Jones, age 82, passed away on Friday, Sep. 20, 2019 in the Oregon Living and Rehab Center with her family by her side. Donna was born March 12, 1937 in Leaf River, the daughter of Clinton N and Vernie V (Snyder) Motter.
Donna attended Leaf River High School. Donna had various jobs over the years but her favorite was Ogle County Bailiff in addition, being a crossing guard for the Leaf River/ Forreston School District.
Donna was a 24-year survivor of colon cancer. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Donna was formally a member of the Leaf River United Methodist Church and the Leaf River Fireman’s Women’s Auxiliary. Donna loved gardening, cleaning and being with her family.
Donna is survived by her children: Darla (David) Miller, Dixon, and Steve (Nicki) Shelton, Leaf River; grandchildren: Paul and Jeff Miller both of Dixon, Samantha (Nick) Boyden, Byron, and Aaron Shelton, Leaf River; sister: Darlene Martin, Freeport; nephews: Andy Martin (Kim) and Randy (Sheri) Martin, Forreston; niece: Vicki (Jim) Myers, Forreston; several great nieces and nephews; special friend: Allison Henson, Mount Morris.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents, son, brother, brother in law, and a niece.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris. Burial will be in Adeline Cemetery, Adeline. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. in Finch Funeral Home.
