Frederick J. “Fred” Schumacher

MONROE CENTER – Frederick J. “Fred” Schumacher, age 84, died Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 21, 1936 near Davis Junction the son of Ralph and Geraldine (Terviel) Schumacher. 

He graduated from Stillman Valley High School in 1954. Fred served his country in the U. S. Army. He married Phyllis Maas on March 15, 1958. Fred farmed over 40 years in the Davis Junction area. He also worked for 10 years for Rockford Blacktop and 5 years for Prestige Paving. He loved to play golf, cards, but most of all he loved being with his family and friends.  He was an avid Bears fan. Fred was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood where he served as an usher and greeter. 

He was predeceased by his parents and sister Arlene Rust.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Monroe Center, son Dennis (Jody) Schumacher of Belvidere, daughter Kelly (John) Dabson of Beloit, Wis., sister Patricia Maronde of Byron, 2 grandchildren; Haley Allison Schumacher and Lucas Matthew Schumacher both of Houston, Texas. 

Due to the Covid-19 precautions a private family service will be held at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley with the Rev. Dr. Matthew Rosebrock pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood officiating.  Burial will take place at the Monroe Center Cemetery.
