Go on a fossil hunt


BYRON – The Byron Forest Preserve District will be offering a fossil hunt on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at its Land Management Center, 6845 North German Church Road in Byron. 

Assistant Superintendent of Education, Janet Dahlberg will lead the hunt for limestone fossils of sea creatures from the Ordovician Period of 450 million years ago. All the rock hammers and safety tools will be provided, but participants can bring their own buckets or bags to collect their fossils.  

Participants will meet at the Land Management Center parking lot.
