FREEPORT — Gordon W. Merrill, 85, of Freeport died Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, S.D.
He was the son of Harold and Grace (Dinges) Merrill. He was born Jan. 31, 1939. He and A. Katherine Wagens were married Jan. 21,1961 in Forreston.
For 11 years prior to his retirement he worked for Forrestville Valley School District.
Surviving family members include his son Roger (Mary) Merrill, daughter Sue (Jeff) Lantz, son Tom Merrill and daughter Tina (Dean) Graves.
Also, grandson Skylar (Lyric) Shade and granddaughter Tatyanna (Dru) Strand. He also had two great grandchildren, Greysen and Knoxy.
Private family services will be scheduled at a later date, and a celebration of life will also be scheduled at a later date.
