Gregory Alan Wood

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Gregory Alan Wood, age 70, passed away on Oct. 14, 2021 in his home in Clarksville, Tenn., after a long battle with cancer. Greg was born on February 19, 1951 in Rockford, the son of Harvey and Betty (Gulbronson) Wood. 

Greg graduated from Leaf River High School, Leaf River. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1970 to 1975 during the Vietnam War; during his time in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange. Greg married Beverly Kielsmeier and then he married Julie Kirkwood. Greg was a police officer for Mt. Morris for several years and was also a security officer for the Byron Nuclear Plant, Byron. He was also a consultant human resources director for several companies. Due to his exposure to Agent Orange he received full military disability.

Greg enjoyed all sports, coaching youth baseball and football, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Greg is survived by his wife Julie; children: James (Patty) Wood, Marcus (Nicole) Wood, Amanda (Payton) Pennington, and Rachel (Brent) Hall; grandchildren: Tyler and Travis Wood, and Melody Pennington.

Greg is preceded in death by parents, brothers, sister, and grandson: Gregory James Wood.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
