BYRON – Janice Marie Swenson, age 96, of Byron and formerly of Rockford, passed away peacefully Tuesday Dec. 14, 2021. Born in Seneca, Wis., on Aug. 1, 1925 to Joseph and Eldora Whiteaker (Webb). A fabulous cook, Janice loved creating beautiful floral pieces and spending time with her family, her true pride and joy. Beloved mother and grandmother; she will remain in our hearts forever.
She is survived by daughters, Gloria (David) Stickler and Dianne (late Robert) Bailey; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Robert Claus Swenson; siblings, Ruth Hazel, Cora Benhart, Donald, Perry, Leonard, Bernard “Rocky” and Byron Whiteaker; and her parents.
Funeral services held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue, Rockford, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Cremation rites accorded. Private Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
