DIXON – Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Carrington, 68, of Dixon, died Friday, June 29, 2018, at her home in Dixon. Kathy taught English and History for 30 years at Bryon middle school prior to her retirement.
Kathy was born April 19, 1950, in Dixon, the daughter of Joseph L. and Kathleen E. (Connell) Carrington. She was President of Teacher’s Union and a coach for Jr. cheerleaders in Bryon. Kathy enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and was a giver to those in need. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews and family.
She is survived by her siblings, Sharon (Bill) Hillison of Tallahassee, Fla., William (Linda) Carrington of Neenah Wis., Patty Swanson of Dixon, Jean Turner of Dixon, Mike (Renee) Tolle of Bloomington; 10 nieces and nephews; five great nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Carrington and Kathleen (Irvin) Tolle; one brother in law, Al Turner; and nephew, Billy Turner.
A memorial visitation was from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with Father Keith Romke, pastor at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, officiating. Burial of cremains followed at Oakwood cemetery in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Byron Middle School in Byron.
Arrangements are being completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
