BYRON – Kenneth C. Knaub, age 78, of Byron, died on Monday March 8, 2021 in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born on Dec. 22, 1942 in Avoca, Wis., the son of Kenneth and Florence (Bussie) Knaub.
He served his country with the Army during the Vietnam War. He married Diane Gorst on February 19, 1972. She preceded him in death in 2016. Kenneth worked as a welder for Greenlee in Rockford until his retirement. In his spare time; he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and boating. He also liked to enter trap shooting competitions. Kenneth and his wife were Nascar fans and would winter together in Arizona. He was a history buff who enjoyed watching TV and the news and eating big breakfasts and fresh donuts. He was a classic car enthusiast and proud member of the Elk's Lodge #335.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianna (Chris Lange) Miller of Rockford, Deb Gilroy of Machesney Park, and Jenny (Kevin) Lochhead of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons, Fred (Michelle Miller) Kastning of Forreston and Steve Knaub of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Ramona (Doug) Freimuth of Chana; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Diane, and brother Gary Knaub.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 18, 2021 at Cornerstone Family Church in Byron, with Pastor Randy Snider officiating. Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
