Letter: The sacred vote

Posted

Dear editor,

The LIFE had two interesting articles, an Aug. 12 column by Lowell Harp and the Aug. 26 Letter to the Editor by Linda Pottinger. Both of these are anti-Trump opinions. The general theme seems to be “Trump will become a dictator”. Mr. Harp closes his column with “this election is about the survival of democracy”. Mrs. Pottinger’s letter had three disingenuous “facts” and a comparison of our times to Orwell’s 1984. There are indeed some facts of our times that need deep consideration.

Kamala Harris has not received a vote of the people to be president in two election cycles. In 2020 she suspended her 2020 campaign early. She won no primary votes. She did not run in any 2024 presidential primary elections. Joe Biden did. During her acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention she claimed she represents “the people”, yet “the people” that voted in the primary did not choose her.

The actions of the Democratic Party, at least on a national scale, exemplifies King Makers, not representative government by the people. Robert Kennedy stated when filing for state primary ballot access he was opposed by the Democratic Party.

“Put on your seat belt”, Pottinger claims. No, it’s time to blow the horn in alarm as representative government is cast aside by the Democratic Party and the end justifies the means, a page out of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals playbook.

The sacred vote. Take a moment to think it through. Harris for President has all the appearances of an orchestrated internal coup. Who voted for Harris? No one.
