Linda L. Massolle

OREGON – Linda L. Massolle, age 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022 at her home near Oregon surrounded by her loving family.  She was born Sept. 5, 1948 in Chicago, the daughter of William H. and Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Riley) Nielsen. 

She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School of St. Charles, where she made a lifelong friend with her favorite teacher Sister Maria Goretti Browne.  Linda married Dale W. Massolle, Sr. on March 16, 1965 in Danville.  Linda was devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Oregon.  She loved to crochet, grow flowers, and enjoyed reading. 

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dale W. Massolle, Sr. and her brothers; William Nielsen, Lawrence Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, and her sisters; Gail Crenshaw and Cynthia Nielsen. 

She is survived by her 4 children; Dale (Nancy) Massolle, Jr. of Davis Junction, Dan Massolle of Oregon, Dennis (Toni) Massolle of Oregon, and Cyndi (Seth) Gelander of Chana, 2 brothers;  Richard Nielsen of Stillman Valley and Steven Nielsen of Rockford, and 2 sisters; Mary Nendze, Nancy (William) Messenger of Oregon and grandchildren; Katrina (Cody) Lessman of Oregon, Kassandra (Joseph) Leber of Mt. Morris, Dustin (Brianna) Massolle of Polo, Shelbi (Raymond) Pigot of Sterling, Brody Massolle of Oregon, Meredith Gelander of Chana, Joey Gelander of Chana, Heather Norman of Rockford, and Sara Norman of Brookfield, Wis.  She is survived by great grandchildren; Carter Lessman, Kallen Lessman, Camden Lessman, Kohen Lessman, Myles Leber, Aidan Mallars, and Stella Mallars.  Linda will also be nurturing two more great grandchildren arriving this summer. 

Private family service will be held at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 West Merchant Street in Byron, with Rev. Richard Kramer officiating.  Private burial will take place at the Daysville Cemetery near Oregon.  A memorial fund is established in Linda’s name for the Serenity Hospice and Home, 1658 South IL Route 2, Oregon, IL 61061.  Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence or memory of Linda.  A celebration of Linda’s journey on earth will be held at a later date.
