Maria A. (Veitch) Rogers, 1970-2021, age 51, of Rockford passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Monday, June 14, 2021 after a 15 year battle with cancer. She didn’t lose the battle. She lived a long time, enjoying this life with Jesus as her strength.
Maria was born March 11, 1970 in Rockford, the daughter of Edgar Veitch and Carol (Reno) Gucciardo. She attended Jefferson High School in Rockford. She was employed with Winnebago County for 30-plus years with her final employment being within the County Clerk’s Office. She enjoyed the people and the work she had done there very much.
Maria married Jon Bengtson on April 10, 2010. She enjoyed playing softball, having get-togethers, listening to music, having fires and making sure everyone was having fun. She loves Jesus and knows her Creator and Savior and was very excited to step into His presence. She was a member of Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stillman Valley that has a congregation and a pastor going above and beyond anything she could’ve imagined.
She is survived by her husband Jon; two children whom she absolutely adored, Andrew (Taylor Hilliard) Rogers and Alex Bengtson, whom are both her ‘favorite;’ Dad, Edgar (Debbie) Veitch; siblings, Edgar (Tami) Veitch; John Veitch; Lily; nephews and nieces; Andrews’ Dad, Dave (Tina) Rogers; in-laws, Carl and Linda Bengtson, Dan and Tracy Bengtson, Eric and Sondra Bengtson; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, a few who were with her almost every weekend, Darcy (Eddie) Foreman, Chris (Adela) Raney, Justin (Aly) Foreman; also lots of family and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her mom, Carol; Step-dads Pat Gucciardo and Joe Gucciardo; and her grandparents.
Funeral service was held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church near Stillman Valley, with the Rev. Eric Tonjes pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was Friday evening at the church from 4-7 p.m. The burial was at the Stillman Valley Cemetery immediately following the service. A memorial fund is established in Maria’s name.
