Merrill G. “Hub” Hubble

PECATONICA – Merrill G. “Hub” Hubble, age 76, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 7, 1943 in Champaign, the son of C.J. and Lela (Stanford) Hubble. 

He graduated from Illinois State University with his Masters degree. He was an Industrial Arts and Drivers Education instructor for both Stillman Valley and Pecatonica High Schools. He was a member of the Pecatonica United Methodist Church, the SM & SF club, the Stillman Valley Snowmobile Club, the Pecatonica Snowmobile Club, and the Winnebago Lion’s Club. Hub was a friendly and outgoing guy who loved to tell stories and spend time with his friends. 

He was a loving dad and proud grandpa. Hub enjoyed many activities with his family including snowmobiling in Wisconsin, boating on the Rock River, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching Packer Football, and farming. He also enjoyed reading western novels, gardening with his special friend Burt and spoiling his dogs Reggie and Rigley. He was predeceased by his parents. 

He is survived by his three children; Kim (Fred) Hiort of Stillman Valley, Todd Hubble of Mahomet, Ill., and Chad (Traci) Hubble of Grand Rapids, Mich., brother Darrell (Janet) Hubble of Leroy, Ill., and 10 grandchildren; Ashley and Austin Richards, Jack, Clay, Cole, and Elle Hubble, Prestley, Noah, Parker, and Brianna Arent, and 2 nephews; Keith (Michelle) Hubble and Brad (Kristen) Hubble.  

Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at the Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church near Stillman Valley with the Rev. Eric Tonjes pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was at the church on Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m. A memorial fund is established for the Wounded Warriors Project or the Rockford Rescue Mission.
