Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Sept. 14-16, 2024

OREGON — On Sept. 14 at approximately 2:38 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 5,000 block of North Freeport Road.  After investigation, deputies placed Ivan Rivera, 27, of Freeport under arrest for an active failure to appear Stephenson County warrant for trespassing.  Rivera was transported to county line and relayed to Stephenson County deputies where he was held in lieu of bond. 

On Sept. 14 at approximately 6:47 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Third Street and Blaine Street in Leaf River for the report of a car-versus-bicyclist accident. After an initial investigation, it was learned that a westbound Chevrolet Traverse struck a northbound bicycle being operated by a 12-year-old juvenile as it crossed Third Street. The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Leaf River Fire and EMS.  This incident remains under investigation.

On Sept. 14 at approximately 11:30 p.m. deputies along with the Monroe Center Fire Department and Kirkland EMS responded to a two-vehicle injury collision at the intersection of Illinois Route 72 and North Mulford Road. After an investigation, it was learned that a black Nissan traveling northbound on North Mulford Road disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a gray Hyundai traveling westbound on Illinois Route 72. The adult male victim and driver of the Hyundai were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the Nissan fled the scene. This incident remains under investigation.

On Sept. 16 at approximately 11:39 a.m. deputies initiated a traffic stop on North Illinois Route 251 at Grubsteakers Restaurant. Upon further investigation deputies arrested Charles J. Navarro, 31, of Rochelle, for driving while license suspended. Navarro was additionally cited for operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration. Navarro was released on a notice to appear with a future court date given.

On Sept. 16 at approximately 5 p.m. Ogle County received a complaint of a domestic battery that occurred in the 2,000 block of West Mud Creek Road, Mt. Morris.  After an investigation, Dennis M. Shaw, 62, of Mt. Morris, was placed under arrest for domestic battery. Shaw was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held awaiting an appearance before a judge.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
