Robert Palmer, age 79 of Grand Haven, Mich., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021 at home. He was born on Dec. 23, 1941 in Leaf River, to the late Hank and Evalene (Mathews) Palmer.
Robert married Janet Rowe on June 29, 1985 in Okemos, Mich. Robert graduated from high school and worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of All Shores Wesleyan Church and loved farming, golfing, fishing, and telling stories; especially about his dad. Robert also enjoyed watching sports and was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Robert will be remembered and forever missed by his wife of 36 years, Janet; his three daughters, Tracy Roberts, Angela Tayon, and Tammy (Dennis) Griffin; his three sons, Chris Palmer, Thomas Mackey, and Daniel (Melissa) Mackey; grandchildren, Brianne, Sean, Erin, Adam, and Andrea; great-grandchildren, Dameon, Hayden, Anthony, and Milez; and his sister, Dixie Dzielak.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Doug Roberts; grandson, Robert “Robbie”; sisters, Lois Himes, and Darlene Holeton; and his brother, Dick Palmer.
The Memorial Service for Robert took place on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Boomgaard officiating.
