OREGON – Zada B. Hitchcock, 91, lifelong Oregon resident, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris. Born Feb. 27, 1930 in Flippin, Ark., the daughter of James E. and Nellie Mae (Mallinson) Ware.
Married to Jack Hitchcock Nov. 3, 1956 in Oregon; he died July 28, 2013. Zada was employed at Kysor Westran in Byron over 30 years prior to retiring. She was a member of East Oregon Church of God and the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge. Zada enjoyed fishing, crafting, watching the Cubs and Bears, and going to the Chana Sale Barn. She was also an avid bowler and joined many leagues.
Survived by sons, Thomas Harmon of Amboy and Charles Harmon of Chicago; daughters: Zada (Gary) Bailey of Mt. Morris, Cathy Bemus of Oregon, Alice (Leroy) Dukes of Amboy, Dolores White of Ashton and Debbie Weight of Rockford; grandchildren: Brian Dukes, Susan Dukes, Jay Vivian, John Vivian, Jennifer Kaecker, Jessica Harmon, Sara Hartweck, Dawn Templeman, Joe Harmon, Jason Harmon, Jesse Bailey, Stephanie Bailey. Myria Bailey, Matthew Hitchcock, John Bemus and Jennifer Bemus; and many, many great-grandchildren.
Also predeceased by her parents; infant son, Jack; and sons, George and Harold Harmon.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor John Guthrie officiated. Burial in Daysville Cemetery, rural Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Zada’s name may be made to Pinecrest Terrace at Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris.
