MOUNT MORRIS – The Mount Morris Jamboree is pleased to welcome classic rock and roll band Strata to the Band Shell for their debut in town on Aug. 31 for a free concert starting at 7 p.m.

This Chicago based band has been wowing audiences for seven years with their faithful renditions of Rock and Roll favorites from the '50's through today. Fronted by lead vocalist Bud Carlson, with Tony Carlson on bass, George Lisle on vocals and guitar, Tony Heredia on drums and vocals, and newest member, Alex Falls on keyboards and vocals, Strata digs through layers of Rock, played the way you remember it. Come sing, dance and enjoy the final concert of our season in style.

Generous donors to the Jamboree, Mount Morris Moose Lodge #1551 will be providing concessions for the evening starting at 6. Some of the items they'll be serving at this concert include: their famous cheeseburgers and pulled pork, chips, soda and brownies.

The Campus will be extra festive that evening as several sculptures from the 3rd Annual National Straw Sculpting Competition are likely to still be around. The Artful Threads Fiber Art Show continues at the Encore Old Sandstone Gallery next door for its final night, open from 6-9:30 p.m., featuring original fiber Art of all kinds, from weaving and quilts to lace and thread sculpture and more by local Artists.

Several other local food and craft vendors will likely be on site as well, including Jen's Artisan Breads, featuring many different varieties of delicious fresh baked bread and Pecatonica River Honey, with raw, natural, locally sourced honey, Dietrich Ranch will have beef sticks and beef jerky and Barker Brew will likely be there to serve a variety of iced coffees, too.

Please come to town early and have a look at all the good locally grown produce and other foods and crafts available at the Mount Morris Community Farmers Market held in the bank parking lot at the corner of Wesley Ave. and Rt. 64 from 4-7 p.m., every Friday through October. Come join the fun on our beautiful, historic campus in the center of Mount Morris, two blocks south of Rt. 64 on Wesley Ave. Our rain location for the concert and concessions is the Mount Morris Moose Lodge, at 101 Moose Dr. just off of E. Hitt St. at the same times.
