Oregon resident Alayna Meyer was surprised with a $2,000 “Back to School” scholarship to Western Governors University (WGU) on Oct. 10.

The scholarship is open to new students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with the online, nonprofit university.

Meyer is a second grade teacher at Forreston Grade School in the Forrestville Valley Community Unit School District 221. She is pursuing a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction from WGU.

Christy Seawall, Strategic Partnerships Manager with WGU, presented Meyer with the scholarship at her workplace.
