The Polo High School varsity girls basketball team scored a 44-33 win over Fulton on Thursday, Feb. 6. Katelyn Rockwood finished with six points and 15 rebounds, while Cam Jones led the Lady Marcos with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals. 

The Oregon High School varsity wrestling team scored 251 points to win the IHSA 1A Byron Regional on Saturday, Feb. 8. The Hawks landed four champions and 12 sectional qualifiers during the tournament. Oregon had three runner-ups and five third-place finishers.

The Stillman Valley High School varsity girls basketball team moved to 27-0 overall and 7-0 in the Big Northern Conference after scoring a 56-42 win over Newman Central Catholic on Monday, Feb. 3. 

Polo High School senior softball player Cheyenna Wilkins represented the United States during the 2025 edition of The Cup, which was held from Jan. 17-19 in The Netherlands. The annual tournament features some of the top high school softball players from around the world.

The Forreston High School varsity boys basketball team edged out Pearl City for a 53-51 win on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Kendall Erdmann led the Cardinals with 33 points, while Brendan Greenfield totaled 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the victory.

The Oregon High School varsity girls basketball team outlasted Fulton 60-52 in overtime on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

The Byron High School varsity wrestling team placed second out of 23 schools with 180.5 points during the 42nd Annual Bob Mitton Invitational at Orion High School from Jan. 24-25. The Tigers landed two champions and three additional top-4 finishers in the meet.

The Oregon High School varsity wrestling team finished first out of 22 schools during the 2025 Randy Bowman Invitational at LeRoy High School on Saturday, Jan. 25. Oregon landed one champion and two runner-up finishers to end the tournament with 205 points.

Former Stillman Valley High School football standout Adam Cox has been named the next defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Drake University. Cox will join the staff of new head football coach Joe Woodley, who takes over for the Bulldogs after leading Grand View University in Des Moines to an NAIA National Championship in 2024.

The Oregon High School varsity girls basketball fell 54-28 against Dixon on Thursday, Jan. 16. Aniyah Sarver led the Hawks with six points, while Alease McLain added five points.

The Stillman Valley High School varsity girls basketball team broke a program record after its 49-15 home win against Rock Falls on Jan. 9. The Cardinals improved to 18-0 on the season and set a new record for the most consecutive wins to open a season with 18. 

The Byron Tiger head football coach Jeff Boyer has been recently announced as the NFHS Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

The Polo High School varsity girls basketball team earned a 53-23 win over Ashton-Franklin Center on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Cam Jones finished with 14 points and 12 assists, while Carlee Grobe scored a team-high 17 points. Laynie Mandrell totaled 12 points and three rebounds for the Marcos, who also saw Leah Tobin grab a team-high eight rebounds.

The Byron High School varsity wrestling team went to Princeton for the 61st Annual Lyle King PIT Invitational from Jan. 10-11.

The Oregon High School varsity girls basketball team fell 50-25 against Rockford Christian on Friday, Jan. 3 to move to 7-8 on the season. Aniyah Sarver led the Hawks with seven points.

The Oregon Boys bowling team competed at the Dixon Toughman Invitational at Plum Hollow Family Center, Dixon.
