OREGON — Over 40 youth participated in the 2024 4-H Day of Dabbling held in Oregon on Feb. 24. This event allowed youth to explore numerous areas of 4-H project work hands-on.
Twelve workshops were offered, and participants could choose three that interest them. Project areas included visual arts, food and nutrition, electricity, woodworking, leather stamping, Cloverbud projects, science, candy knots, and friendship bracelets. As a result of the workshop, participants took home creations ranging from an extension cord and cinnamon bread to homemade harmonicas and gourmet dog treats.
4-H volunteers and youth conducted workshops, including Andy and Lisa Hinrichs, Oregon; Anne and Bethany Kennedy, Davis Junction; Katie and Lydia Sherburne, Byron; Bode Martin, Allissa Martin, Oregon; Debbie Harris, Beloit, Wis.; Immanuel Arellano, Mt. Morris; Rachel Toth, Stillman Valley; Natalie Coy, Mt. Morris and University of Illinois Extension staff including Kathy Dombeck, 4-H program coordinator, Katie Williamson, 4-H program coordinator, and Johnna Jennings, University of Illinois Extension educator.
Assisting in a variety of ways were Bernice Zandonai, Stillman Valley, and Andrew and Jacob Hickman, Byron. Many thanks to all who contributed their time and energy to make this event possible.
