Oregon and Byron golf teams square off at Silver Ridge

The Oregon High School varsity boys golf team fell 171-179 against Byron at Silver Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug 20. Byron’s Cason Newton earned medalist honors with a 40, while Oregon’s Jackson Messenger was the runner-up finisher with a 41. Oregon’s Brogan Wilkinson carded a 44 and teammate Nole Campos landed one stroke behind with a 45.

The Oregon High School and Byron High School varsity girls golf teams tied 202-202, with the Tigers taking the tiebreaker with their fifth golfer’s score. Oregon’s Sarah Eckardt earned medalist honors with a 43 and Alayna Brandt was the runner-up for the Hawks with a 44.

Forreston boys golf team defeats Sterling Newman

The Forreston High School varsity boys golf team scored a 166-187 win against Sterling Newman on Thursday, Aug. 22 at Emerald Hill Golf Course. Kaden Brown earned medalist honors with a 37, while three players including Kendall Erdmann, Darin Greenfield and Daylen Rahn finished with 43. The JV Cardinals beat Sterling Newman 217-165.

Forreston boys golf team competes at Rocket Invitational

The Forreston High School varsity boys golf team competed at the Rocket Invitational in Rock Falls on Saturday, Aug. 24. Kaden Brown led the Cardinals with a 76, while Kendall Erdmann fired an 87 and Daylen Rahn added an 89. Darin Greenfield chipped in an 86 on Saturday.

Oregon volleyball team falls against Eastland

The Oregon High School varsity volleyball team faced Eastland at the Blackhawk Center on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The Hawks fell 26-24, 13-25, 20-25 to begin the season with an 0-1 record. Madi Shaffer finished with 14 digs, while Grace Tremble added eight kills and four digs. Anna Stender recorded 12 assists, eight digs, three kills and three aces for the Hawks in the loss. Oregon’s JV team won 22-25, 25-14, 15-12 and the fresh-soph team lost 13-25, 16-25.
