Eagle’s Nest Art Group will hold its annual Spring Membership Show at its Conover Square gallery located on the second floor at 201 N. 3rd St., Oregon.  The show will open with a reception on Saturday, April 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Leaf River Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the morning of Wednesday, April 3, a department Facebook post said.

Morris presents a dessert theatre, Love Letters.  This enchanting play will be held on Friday through Sunday, April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Allure of Pinecrest Grove Theater, 500 Evergreen Lane, Mt. Members of the Polo Women's Club braved some chilly weather on April 1 to "plant" blue and silver pinwheels at the Paul Grahling Park, Centennial Grade School, Aplington Middle School and the Polo Community High School to raise awareness that April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Polo. 

Serenity Hospice & Home is delighted to introduce its new medical director, Dr. John Plescia. Active in the Mt. Morris-Oregon area for several years, Dr. Plescia has demonstrated care for all in need since joining Serenity in the fall of 2023. Many have heard the name Dr. Plescia in his professional roles at KSB’s Oregon Health Clinic and Allure of Pinecrest in Mt. Morris.

The Ogle County Republican Party recently hosted their Annual “Draw Down” at The Rivers Edge Experience in Oregon, right before Easter weekend on Thursday, March 28, and it was a huge success. 

Byron High School Students of the Month for February were recently named.

The Coliseum Museum in Oregon presents its first concert as well as two new artists on display at the Coliseum Museum of Art, Antiques & Americana during April.

Jacob Monaco was recently named the February Student of the Month at Polo Community High School and received a scholarship from the Polo Schools Foundation for his efforts. He is the son of Marie and George Monaco.

The First Fridays Open Mic presents its monthly show at the Oregon VFW this April 5. The event attracts many talented performers, but musicians and singers of all skill levels find acceptance from its supportive audience.

Oregon Elementary School recently named its March Students of the Month.

On Thursday, April 18, PEO Chapter NZ Byron will be hosting a Bunco fundraiser at Prairie View Golf Course Pavilion, Byron. Doors open at 6:30 pm. 

Two Stillman Valley High School students competed in the ACES Sectional at NIU.

Ogle County Farm Bureau leaders are excited to call the Ogle County Board an “Ally in Agriculture” after the board’s adoption of a pro-agriculture resolution, demonstrating local elected officials’ support for farmers.

During the March Forrestville Valley Board of Education meeting, a resolution was approved to accept a donation of property from Eileen Anderson located at 503-505 Main Street in Forreston.

The Ogle County 4-H Federation hosted its annual 4-H Penny Carnival at the Blackhawk Center in Oregon on March 2.  

The Rockford Robotics team recently attended the Northern Lights Regional competition in Duluth, Minnesota, where they were awarded the Excellence in Engineering award.

The 2024 Ogle County 4-H Bowling Tournament championship round was held on Feb. 25 at T-Byrd Lanes in Rochelle.

Over 40 youth participated in the 2024 4-H Day of Dabbling held in Oregon on Feb. 24. This event allowed youth to explore numerous areas of 4-H project work hands-on.

The town of Oregon, along with people from nearby places and even far-off states, have come together in an inspiring show of support for Tracey Burke.

The Oregon Park District would like to invite the public to the third annual Winter Games Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 21 at Nash Recreation Center. The ceremony will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The Evangelical Free Church of Mt. Morris in collaboration with the Performing Arts Guild will present a one-man play, “Heaven, How I Got Here” on Palm Sunday weekend at the Pinecrest Grove Community Theatre, 500 Evergreen Lane.

Brian Gale from Stillman Valley, who is studying journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was among the honorees at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) 2024 Student Forum. The event was held Feb. 24 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
