BOLINGBROOK – Alice W. Maas, age 93, from Heritage Woods of Bolingbrook died Thursday, Sept.23, 2021. She was born Jan. 14, 1928 in Danville, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Kite) Smith.
She graduated from Oregon High School in 1946. Alice married Louis L. Maas on Jan. 30, 1948 in Oregon. She was a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin general store in Oregon for several years and the Eckerd’s Drug Store in Sarasota, Fla. She has lived in Oregon, Dixon, Bolingbrook, Illinois and Sarasota, Fla. She loved to bake and would often bake many items for her grandchildren’s fund raisers. Alice was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church where she would help with the church Bazaar and was a youth group sponsor.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Louis, son Dennis, and brothers Melvin, William, and Lester Smith.
She is survived by her children; Linda (Charles) Kurtz of Bolingbrook, Terry (Pam) Maas of Rock Fall, daughter-in-law Jean Maas of Wentzville, Mo., 8 grandchildren; Matthew Maas, Shelley (Craig) Kirchner, Stacie (Duane) Tuffentsamer, Allison (Keri) Maas, Martin (Erica) Maas, Megan Maas, Dana (Michael) Antonelli, and Christopher (Ashley Senesac) Kurtz, 13 great grandchildren; Devin, Quincy, Olivia, Isabelle, DeAndre, Kenzie, Madeline, Xavier, Amelia, Camden, KaMilla, Eleanor, and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church near Oregon, with the Rev. Josiah Youngquist and the Rev. Eric Heinekamp Co-officiating. Visitation was prior to the funeral at the church from 10-11 a.m. Please wear a mask to attend the visitation or funeral. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
