Bruce “OSS” Porter

OREGON – Bruce “OSS” Porter, age 68, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon after fighting cancer for 6 years. He was born July 15, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Elmer and Florence (Schultz) Porter. 

He graduated from Willow Brook High School in 1971. He married Victoria Miralli on July 7, 2001 in Oregon. He retired in 2015 after 44 years as a sheet metal worker and Union member of Local 73 in Chicago. He was a lover of animals and often donated and rescued from shelters.  He spent many years as a member of the Sojourner’s Motorcycle Club, he was a lover of Budweiser as well as a dedicated Budweiser memorabilia enthusiast. He loved everything Harley, owning and riding his Harley’s. OSS was a friend to so many and was always there to give a helping hand.  

Bruce was predeceased by his parents. 

He is survived by his loving wife Victoria of Oregon, sons Elmer (Lauren) Porter of Genoa, and Eric Porter of Sycamore, step-daughters Jamie (Michael) Weirich of Florida, and Jacquelyn Johnston of Mt. Morris, 3 sisters Laura Hodina, Florence Czerwinski, and Mary (Richard) Juarez. 

Funeral service was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29th, 2022 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon, with the Rev. Ronald Weber officiating. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home in Oregon from 6-8 p.m.  Burial win the Daysville Cemetery near Oregon.
