Charlotte Ruth Galvin

OREGON – Charlotte Ruth Galvin, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on July 25, 2019. Charlotte was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Charles and Rose (Reid) Edwards.

In December 1945 Charlotte married Paul E. Myers in Lima, Ohio. They had three children together; Paul (Kathy) E. Myers Jr. of Goshen, Ind.; Leonard D. Myers and Christopher L Myers. After unfortunate life changes, Charlotte later met Joseph Galvin and the two wed in June 1951 in Lima, Ohio. They moved to Chicago, where they expanded their family with four more children: Twins Larry E. Galvin and Sherry (Terry) Forsythe, Antioch; Terrance L. (Jenni) Galvin, Gurnee; and Rose A. (Jerry) Pittman, Oregon. Charlotte spent the next 30 years working at St. Joe Hospital in Chicago, as a SPD manager of central supply; and raising her family.

After retiring in 1992 she moved to Oregon to be around the youngest grandchildren. She quickly made friends within the community. She became a member and an active Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon, where she loved attending her bible studies. Charlotte joined the home extension of Oregon, the women’s club, birthday club, and she donated many of her days volunteering to Lifeline Food Pantry. She has touched many lives, always helping where she could, Charlotte loved traveling, playing cards, attending concerts in the park, and most of all spending time with her family. She was blessed with ten wonderful grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, her husband, and three sons.

Cremation rites have been accorded with Finch Funeral Home, 405 East Hitt, Mt. Morris, IL. A celebration of life for Charlotte will be announced at a later date.
