Christine Scott passed away on Oct. 16, 2021, at KSB Hospital in Dixon. Christine was born on Dec. 8, 1947, to Walter and Agnes Scott in Charleston, Ill. Christine and her family moved to Byron in 1958.
Christine is survived by her sister Linda (Roger) Hellinga of New Lenox, Ill., and two nephews, Scott (Donna) Hellinga, of Roscoe and Brett (Jamie) Hellinga of Morton, Ill.; three grand-nieces and three grand-nephews.
Christine was a graduate of Byron High School. After graduation Christine trained and worked at the Village of Progress in Oregon. She was later employed at Quality Metals in Byron for almost 25 years.
Despite a hearing loss in early childhood and some physical limitations, Christine made the best of her life. She was an avid sports fan, devoted to her favorite team, the Byron Tigers and she enjoyed reading, making good use of the Byron Library.
She was fortunate to travel with her family and had been able to visit all but three states. But most of all Chris loved being with her family and friends. She had many good times with the Whetsel, Pederson and Sabin families.
Christine and her family were very grateful for the help and friendship of her caregivers, Lynn Wahl and Rite Reader, which allowed her to remain in her home when her health began to fail. Recently, Christine had been a resident of Pinecrest manor of Mount Morris.
