LEAF RIVER – Darlene Martin, age 88, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 in Polo Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side. Darlene was born Aug. 5, 1933 in Leaf River, the daughter of Clinton N. and Vernie V. (Snyder) Motter. She married Harold “Andy” Martin on August 19, 1951 in Adeline.
Darlene was a lifelong Leaf River resident. She was employed by Watt Publishing Co. in Mt. Morris and as a bookkeeper for the Leaf River School District. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved travelling, camping, cooking, and baking.
Darlene is survived by her children: Vickie (Jim) Myers, Forreston; Andy (Kim) Martin, Mt. Carroll; Randy (Sheri) Martin, Forreston. 6 grandchildren: Kyle (Susie) Wolfley, Drew (Karla) Martin, Jenna (Aaron) Dietrich, Brooke (Mason) Huckabay, Luke (Tiffany McCartney) Myers, Nick (Faith Stoner) Myers. 6 great-grandchildren: Sierra and Bryan Wolfley, Lincoln and Lilyanna Dietrich, Brynlee Huckabay and Tayden Myers, and step great-grandson: Joey Pina. Niece Darla (Dave) Miller and nephew Steve (Nicki) Shelton and their children Paul Miller, Jeff Miller, Samantha (Nick) Boyden and Aaron Shelton.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Bev Remrey and son-in-law Mike Remrey, brother Clinton and sister Donna Jones.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt Street, Mt. Morris, IL, with Pastor Rodney Caldwell officiating. Burial in Lightsville Cemetery, Leaf River. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at Finch Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers memorials to be determined at a later date.
