BYRON — David D. Groharing, 60, of Byron, IL, died on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, FL.
Dave’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Thomson United Methodist Church in Thomson, IL. There will be no visitation. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Tipton Auction Service in Thomson, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson, IL. A memorial has been established.
David was born March 27, 1963, in Orlando, FL, to Richard and Janet (Jackson) Groharing. He was educated in the Hanover grade schools and was a 1981 graduate of Thomson High School. He married Kristy K. Miller on April 16, 1989, in Branson, MO. Dave was a union electrician at Exelon Nuclear Generating Station in Byron, IL for 36 years before retiring in 2020. He attended The United Methodist Churches in Thomson and Leaf River, IL, as well as City First Church in Rockford, IL, and First Baptist Church in Okeechobee, FL. Dave along with his wife, Kristy, cherished their time wintering in Okeechobee, FL, in recent years. Dave’s greatest joys in life were faith, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kristy; one daughter, Karissa (Matthew) Goellner of Wayne, IL; one son, Matthew Groharing of Byron, IL; his mother, Janet Fowler of Peoria, IL; his father, Richard (Samantha) Groharing of Adamsville, TN; three brothers, Robb Groharing of Adamsville, TN, Steve (Susie) Groharing of Hanover, IL and Eric Groharing of Bristol, WI; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Karen and Richard Miller of Thomson, IL; one brother-in-law, Steve (Penny) Miller of Streamwood, IL; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Kate Jackson; paternal grandparents, Bruce and Alice Groharing; his step father, Jesse Fowler.
