CHANA – Douglas “Doug” Heine, 82, longtime resident of Chana, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 in Serenity Hospice Home, Oregon. Born Nov. 26, 1937 in Elgin, the son of Raymond and Ella (Hecht) Heine.
Doug was a 1956 graduate of Hampshire High School and served in the U.S. Army. Married to Phillis DeWanz May 14, 1960 in Elgin. Doug farmed for many years in Chana, and prior to that in rural Hampshire. He was a member of Chana United Methodist Church.
Survived by his wife Phillis Heine of Chana; daughters, Linda Newman of Elgin and Karen (Tim) Stocking of South Elgin; and twin grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Stocking.
Predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and an infant sister.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Private Funeral Services will be held in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor David Rogula presiding. Burial in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doug’s name may be made to Rock River Center, Oregon, Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon or Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin.
