OREGON – Duane John Herrmann, 70, longtime Oregon resident, went to be with the Lord Jan. 16, 2019 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. Born Dec. 12, 1948 in Rochelle, the son of John and Arlene (Sweger)  Herrmann.

Married to his loving wife, Phyllis (Brown) February 13, 1971 in Rochelle. Duane graduated from Rochelle High School in 1967 and then attended Milton College. He was employed at Caron International in Rochelle for 28 years and then at Turtle & Hughes in Freeport until retiring in 2011. Duane was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon, Oregon Knights of Columbus Council 1092 &  4th Degree Assembly1702, Oregon Lions Club, former member of the Oregon School Board and a board member and volunteer for many events at the Village of Progress, Oregon. He enjoyed wood-working, community volunteering and spending time with family and friends.

Duane will be missed and always loved by his wife, Phyllis of Oregon; children, Brett (Brenda) Herrmann of Rochelle and Erin (Mike Mueller) Herrmann of Oregon; grandchildren: Kristopher Herrmann, Zack Levan and Nicole, Tyler and Colton Herrmann; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Sue) Herrmann of Clinton, Iowa; and sisters, Kathi (Doug) Lieving and Andrea Fletcher, both of Rochelle.

Predeceased by his parents, infant daughter Jamie and brother-in-law, John Fletcher.

A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Rev. Richard Kramer, former pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church of Oregon, officiating. Private burial at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery, Oregon. No visitation. The family will greet friends attending at a luncheon following the service. Memorials in Duane's name may be made to the Village of Progress, Oregon.
