Elaine Theresa Stanton (aka Grammie, Grams, G), age 84, passed away on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at home with her family, while holding the hand of her beloved grandson, Ben. She was born April 7th, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of Andrew and Margie (Gardula) Gorczynski.

She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1955. Elaine was a part of the United Methodist Women’s in Forreston. She also enjoyed being in a book club. She was a Daisy Girl Scout leader and involved in various bible studies. Elaine loved attending Forreston Cardinal High School football games, spending time with friends and family and being around family pets. She enjoyed having sleep overs with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved gardening, canning and coffee paired with her favorite sweets. During the holidays she loved having her grandchildren over to make confetti and celebrating the new year.

She is survived by her children, Michaelene (Mickey)(Gary) Sasscer of Leaf River, Andrew Stanton of Jamestown N.D., Jim (April) Stanton of Hedgesville, W.V. Grandchildren, Maggie (Dave) Hopersberger, Stephanie (Choko) Sasscer, Benjamin (Jordan) Sasscer, Ashley (Braden) Stanton, Jessica Stanton, and Steve (fiancé Alexandria Wisner) Boldt. Step grandchildren, Derek Schmidt and Joshua (Tausha) Schmidt Great grandchildren, Lily, Zoe, Bryan, Allie, Ramon, Sophia, Elaine, and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, sister Lillian Dzieglewicz, niece Darlene Woykowski, and daughter in-law Sherry Stanton. It was well known Elaine hated winter and the brutal cold. She much preferred the blooms and sounds of spring.

A private service will be held in May to celebrate her life and love of flowers. Elaine’s family would like to thank Heritage Woods, Walnut Acres, Hospice, and the Leaf River Fire Department.
