Football: Byron High School to face Williamsville in Week 3 of IHSA season

Scheduling change occurs after Rockford Christian announces it won't field a team

BYRON — The Byron High School football team will face the Williamsville Bullets in Week 3 of the IHSA football season after Rockford Christian announced it will not field a team for the 2024 season.  Both Byron and Rockford Christian reside in the Big Northern Conference, which normally fields a full nine-game conference schedule.

The Byron-Williamsville matchup will be played  at Paul Jenkins Field in Williamsville on Friday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. for the JV game and 7 p.m. for the varsity game. It will be the third time over the last eight years that Byron and Williamsville collide. The last matchup occurred during the 2019 IHSA State Championship, where the Bullets outlasted the Tigers 46-42.
