OREGON – George D. “Charlie” Jones, 85, lifelong Oregon resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. Born June 21, 1936 in Oregon, the son of George and Hazel (Matthews) Jones.
Married to Patricia Mon July 4, 1958 in Byron. Charlie attended Oregon schools and was a US Army veteran. He was employed 37 years at E.D. Etnyre in Oregon, retiring in 2006. Charlie loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survived by his wife, Pat Jones of Oregon; son, Duane (Sharon) Jones of Oregon; daughter, Tina (Stuart) Typer of Leaf River; grandchildren: Rebecca Jones, LeeAnne (Ryan) Kessler, Justine Jones (fiancé Brian Stenzel), Christen (Alex) Styche and Matt (Ashley) Farrey; step-grandchildren, Jena Thunberg and Kyle Thunberg; great grandchild, Rylee Farrey; step-great grandchildren: Ethan & Allison Kessler, Jaxon Slomian and Christian White; and sister, Shirley Mon.
Predeased by his parents and sister, Bonnie Pearson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Luke Schier of The Open Bible Church, Polo presided. Burial in Grand Detour Cemetery.
