Harold E. “Skip” Richardson

BYRON – Harold E. “Skip” Richardson, age 72, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. He was born Aug. 27, 1948 in Mastic Beach, New York the son to Harold and Veronica (Bowman) Richardson. 

He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Sylvia Marean on May 6, 1983 at the All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron. Skip worked many years as a boiler inspector for Commercial Union Hartford Insurance Company. He was a member of the All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron and graduated from the Diakonia 2 year lay theology study through the ELCA. He loved to fish and make fishing lures. He loved to read, ride his motorcycle, but most of he loved to spend time with his family. 

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Theresa Richardson, and infant son Eric Richardson. 

He is survived by his wife Sylvia of Byron, children; Danielle (Steven) Smith of Wisconsin, Richard Lawson of Texas, Rhonda (Alan) Perreault of Michigan, and Ross (Lynn) Lawson of Texas, brother Gary (Patricia) Richardson of Florida, 10 grandsons; Trevor, Jared, and Evan Smith, Logan and Mitchell Usrey, Quentin and Killian Perreault, Corbett, Joe, and Luke Lawson, Nephew Brenden, and niece Meagan. 

A funeral service was held 11 a.m,. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron, with the Rev. Janet Wold pastor of the church officiating. Visitation was held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., burial will follow the service at the Byron Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in Harold Richardson’s name for the Gary Sinise Foundation, P.O. Box 368, Woodland Hills, CA  91365.
