BYRON – Jane E. Jackson, age 57, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 after a short illness. She was born in Rockford on July 27, 1961 the daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Bontjes) Jackson.

Jane worked at the Blackhawk Steak Pit as a bartender and manager. She began working there when she was 18 years old where she has made many friends and touched many lives in her almost 40 years of work. Jane was an animal mom and loved and raised German shepherds and was also part of a German shepherd club. She was a diehard Elvis fan and also loved shopping in her spare time.

She is survived and missed by her mother, Dorothy of Byron; brothers, Paul Jackson of Byron, Jim Jackson of Byron, and Walter (Kristin) Jackson of Winnebago; and niece and nephew, Marilyn (Joe Helfrichs) Jackson and Travis Jackson. She will also be missed by her beloved dog, Anja.

She is preceded in death by her father Arthur, brothers, Stephen and David, and nephew Stephen.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant Street in Byron, with the Pastor Randy Snider of Cornerstone Family Church officiating. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund is established in Jane’s name.
